Importance of a Established Long-Term Disaster Recovery Group
Pre-established trusted groups, like the Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group, is crucial to effectively accomplishing our communities disaster recovery goals while also making our communities more resilient.
Having the structure, organization, and personnel in place pre-disaster;
that can think clearly when under pressure; that can manage people and donations;
that understand our best practices and lessons learned; are vital to ensuring that those within our community that will not recover on their own, not only have the opportunity to recover, but to do so in an organized, vetted, and more efficient manner.
When Have We Responded?
Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group responds when there has been a Federally Declared Disaster and Induvial Assistance has been approved. Since 2015 there has been five Federally Declared Disaster in the Coastal Bend with CBDRG responding to three of them.
- 2015 – 2017 Jim Wells County & Nueces County Flood – DR-4223-TX
- 2017 – 2023 Hurricane Harvey – DR-4332-TX
- 2018 Texas Severe Storms and Flooding – DR-4377-TX
- 2020 – 2023 Texas Covid-19 Pandemic – DR-4485-TX
- 2021 Texas Severe Winter Storm Uri – DR-4586-TX

On August 28, 2019, President Donna Rosson receives a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition on behalf of Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group for its “outstanding service to rebuilding and healing our communities” from Congressman Michael Cloud, representing the 27th District of Texas.
